Quite a few years ago I was single and living in Pittsburg.  I had bought my first house and money was very, very tight.  It was quite often that the "ends didn't meet". 

A couple in my neighborhood had several times invited me to their church.  At the time I wasn't going to church, and I didn't have a relationship with God, and had never known Jesus in a personal way.  BTW - the wife of the couple that invited me to their church, is a first grade teacher here at Valhalla.  Her name is Mrs. Roberts.  Her classroom is right over there.

• MALACHI ASSURES HIS PEOPLE THAT GOD STILL LOVED THEM

The purpose of Malachi was to assure his people that God still loved them, but He demanded honor, respect, and faithfulness from them. They had become backsliders, cynical, hurt, void of real hope, with hearts more tuned to their turmoil then the heart of God. Malachi seeks to pierce there heart with six challenges.

• MALACHI WAS A CONTEMPORARY OF NEHEMIAH.

They address some of the same problems. Spiritual degeneration in the life of the people leads to social decline, injustice, sin and abuse as in other societies.
