I hope you get one too: Dear Dad

Dear Dad,

maddie3.jpgmaddie2.jpgmaddie1.jpg In my mind I see you always wearing tight Levi 501 jeans, face smiling and body smelling of fresh paint. It's no wonder I find comfort in a freshly painted room, or on a canvas, because to me, you are there. Always there, hiding elephants under my bed and singing softly "Jesus draw me close."

I remember riding in your red truck, winding through the hills on our way to seminary. Hawks were in the sky soaring over our heads. It was in that place I became a Christian. You've been a part of all my most important memories, from letting me highlight and tear up your bible to teaching me to boogie board, showing me the vast ocean God had given us. In your wisdom, strength, and uniqueness, you have shaped my life in the best way possible. Thank you

Madison's Poem (21yrs SFSU student) IN MY MIND

    • Fresh paint seeping through strong pores
    • love laughing in brilliant green eyes
    • You lift me up, a small child taken with her father
    • a short moment in infinite time.
    • Pine trees surrounding our small red truck,
    • Hawks in search of life
    • You sharing life’s beauties-
    • I discover Christ.
    • In your faded 501s we travel to the shore
    • always pushing me to go farther
    • sharing an ocean of possibilities
    • I now feel what you feel when you see God
    • The cool waves encircling my small body,
    • He is here among us- in the tide, in the air
    • It's your wisdom that brought me here
    • and your uniqueness that keeps me.

Anyways, just thought I'd share. I love you  ********p.s. I love you too Maddie! I am proud of you and bless all you are, and all you are in Jesus' mind still becoming. Dad
